Joint Grants
Since formation of the Alliance in FY99 and beyond Meharry and Vanderbilt collaborators have been awarded more than 135 joint grants. In fiscal year 2008 alone, joint proposals yielded a total of $43 million dollars stemming from over 55 active grants.
Joint Publications
Joint publications, on the other hand, have reached a total of 284 of which 92% were published following the establishment of the Alliance. The cumulative number of manuscripts is shown below. To determine how this portfolio of publications has changed with regard to the primary topic over time, the articles have been classified as either based on basic science, clinical, or community studies. This figure indicates the growth of the translational nature of the research achievements of Alliance investigators who have moved from a portfolio of 100% joint basic science publications in 1995 to a point at which 53% of the total 284 are either clinical- or community-based as of March, 2010.
