1. Tell us about your background, where are you from, and what have you done to get where you are today?

I was raised in Atlanta, GA, where I completed my undergraduate studies at Georgia State University, majoring in biology and minoring in sociology. Following my graduation, I began my professional journey as a Patient Care Coordinator at Emory University Hospital, specifically in the urology department. This role provided me with an excellent introduction to the healthcare field. My primary responsibility involved scheduling surgeries and acting as a liaison between the physician and the patient, which allowed me to gain valuable insights into the fundamentals of healthcare and patient
care. I had the privilege of learning from a wide array of professionals, including doctors, nurses, medical assistants, and administrative staff.

2. Describe your overall experience at your current institution.

My experience at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing has been immensely enriching. It is clear that each of my professors is deeply committed to helping me develop into a proficient healthcare provider. Their dedication is evident in their teaching methods, the support they offer, and the resources they share. Although I initially felt apprehensive about entering the nursing program, each lesson has increased my confidence and assured me of the provider I will become.

3. Please describe a positive experience with the Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance.

One of the most memorable experiences I had with the Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance was participating in the Black Girls in STEAM Event. It was truly inspiring to engage with these young girls and witness their excitement and passion for science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. I particularly valued the opportunity to share my experiences in nursing and offer them insight into the wide range of possibilities within the healthcare field.
