U.S. Ambassador Deborah Birx, M.D. met with representatives of Meharry Medical College Thursday for a roundtable discussion concerning HIV and AIDS health disparities around the world.
Ambassador Birx is the Coordinator of the United States Government Activities to Combat HIV/AIDS and U.S. Special Representative for Global Health Diplomacy. Birx is a world-renowned medical expert and leader in the field of HIV/AIDS. Her three-decade-long career has focused on HIV/AIDS immunology, vaccine research and global health.

The Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance 15-Year Anniversary Lecture Series on Health Disparities & Population Health will be held March 30 from noon until 1 p.m.
The series features Giselle Corbie-Smth, MD, MSC and Alan Richmond.
Corbie Smith is a Kenan Distinguished Professor and a member of the Department of Social Medicine, the Department of Medicine and the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Medicine, as well as director for both the Center for Health Equity Research and the NC TraCS Institute, CARES.
