Dr. Alaina Boyer, Rev. Neely Williams attend UAB 10th Annual Health Disparities Research Symposium

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB 10th Annual Health Disparities Research Symposium “The Science of Health Disparities: From Social Causes to Personalized Medicine” was attended by Dr. Alaina Boyer and community partner the Rev. Neely Williams.

Dr. Boyer accompanied the Rev. Williams to Birmingham, Alabama, to present two research posters. Neely submitted two research abstracts -- “A Community-Engaged Approach to Measuring Trust among Underrepresented Groups” and “Engaging Minority Participants in Research Using Community Engagement Studios."

The conference reflected the intersection of biological, clinical social and behavioral research as it relates to health disparities. Invited speakers included researchers and community advocates from prestigious Universities, national collaboratives and community-based organizations.
