Jerica Woods joins Alliance as newest intern

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Jerica Woods, an intern from Middle Tennessee State University, started her internship with the Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance this week.

Woods, who graduated earlier this year, majored in Health Education, with a concentration in community and public health. When asked what drove her to that field of study, she said, “I just feel like health is everywhere. I just felt like the community needed people like me to keep everyone healthy and happy.”

She added, “Because if you’re not healthy, you’re not happy.”

Woods applied for her internship through the Tennessee Cancer Coalition, just like her sister and the MVA’s previous intern, Alexis Holman.

“I’m really interested in cancer,” Woods explained. “I feel a lot of people don’t know about cancer. I’m one of them, and I want to learn more.”

Woods’ plans for the future include applying to nursing school in January and one day become a Registered Nurse.
