Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance welcomes newest intern, Ryan Ber

NAHVILLE, Tenn. The Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance’s newest intern, Ryan Ber, is a man of few words. When asked what prompted him to study medicine, he said simply, “an interest in the human body.”

Ber is a student at Meharry Medical College. He expects to graduate in 2018 with his MD, and he intends to become a primary care physician.

The aspiring doctor is originally from Toronto, Canada. As with his previous responses, his explanation for relocating to Nashville was simple: “I wanted to move down to the states, and when I came to Nashville, I really enjoyed the city.”

As an intern with the MVA, Ber analyzes social demographic factors that possibly limit individuals from participating in biomedical research.

“I was working on the interprofessional group with Chante Stubbs, and approached Dr. Wilkins because I was interested in working to improve the healthcare that lower income individuals receive,” he explained.

Dr. Consuelo H. Wilkins, MD, MCSI is the MVA’s Executive Director. Chante Stubbs, MPH CPH is a Program Coordinator with the MVA and works with Interprofessional Education (IPE) and Inter-Institutional Collaborative Learning.
