NASHVILLE, Tenn. On Friday, July 10, the Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance presented the third in a series of educational sessions on the fundamentals of grantsmanship, scientific manuscript writing and research methodology. The latest session was called "Writing a Scientific Manuscript (Part 2).

Community Research Partners discuss benefits of pharmacy care in diabetes treatment

The Community Research Partners (CRP) gathered Friday, July 10, at the Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance (MVA) office for a works-in-progress meeting featuring a Community Engaged Research Core (CERC) mini grant-funded project – Pharmacist-Directed Intervention to Improve Diabetes Outcomes in High-Risk Patients.

South Carolina researchers visit Vanderbilt University Medical Center for Peer to Peer Site Visit

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Vanderbilt University Medical Center hosted another Peer to Peer Site Visit Thursday, July 9, this time welcoming Health Sciences South Carolina President and CEO Helga E. Rippen, MD, PhD, MPH FACPM and Medical University of South Carolina Department of Public Health Sciences Associate Professor Cathy L. Melvin, PhD, MPH. The Site Visit was sponsored by the Association of American Medical Colleges for the Learning Health System awardees.  

MVA researchers attend NAPCRG Practice Based Research Network Conference 2015

BETHESDA, Md. Researchers from the Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance participated in the North American Primary Care Research Group (NAPCRG) Practice Based Research Network Conference 2015. MVA Executive Director Dr. Consuelo H. Wilkins, MD, MCSI opened the conference, which took place June 29 and 30,  with a plenary focus on “What is Engagement?”

Dr. James E.K. Hildreth officially becomes MMC president, featured in Tennesseean

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Dr. James E.K. Hildreth officially became Meharry Medical College's 12th president on July 1. In an interview with The Tennesseean on his first day, Hildreth said he was inspired by the college's early leaders, when the first Meharry classes were taught in the basement of Clark Memorial United Methodist Church. To succeed, he said, he will have to evoke their entrepreneurial spirit.

Grant funding opportunities explored at town hall meeting

NASHVILLE, Tenn. David W. Haas, MD and Duane Smoot, MD discussed grant funding opportunities with the Tennessee Center for AIDS Research (TN-CFAR) at a town hall meeting held Monday at the Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance.

MVA workshops continue with Writing a Scientific Manuscript (Part 2)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. The Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance's series of educational sessions on the fundamentals of grantsmanship, scientific manuscript writing and research methodology continues on Friday, July 10. Starting at noon, the third session in the Principles of Research Writing & Design workshop series is titled "Writing a Scientific Manuscript (Part 2)."
 
 The sessions are targeted towards health professional students/trainees. Lunch is provided based on RSVPs. Sessions will be held on select Fridays at noon.

Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance to host Tennessee Center for AIDS Research town hall meeting

NASHVILLE, Tenn. The Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance will host a town hall meeting for the Tennessee Center for Aids Research (TN-CFAR) Monday, June 6, from noon until 1 p.m. All those interested in attending should RSVP as soon as possible. Lunch will be provided for the first 40 to do so.

Supplemental documents provided for Principles of Research Writing & Design workshops

NASHVILLE, Tenn. The Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance's Principles of Research Writing & Design Workshops will resume July 10 at noon with a new session, "Writing a Scientific Manuscript (Part 2)." The workshop will be held at the MVA office and, as with previous workshops, lunch will be provided. (RSVP in advance in order to receive lunch.)
