Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Lecture planned Wednesday, Jan. 20

NASVHILLE, Tenn. Vanderbilt Law School will hold the 2016 Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Lecture featuring Professor Paul D. Butler on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016 at 12:05 p.m. in the Flynn Auditorium.
 
 Professor Butler’s talk is entitled, “The System is Working the Way It’s Supposed To: The Limits of Criminal Justice Reform.”

The Politics of Health in the U.S. South series to be held March 17-18

NASHVILLE, Tenn. The health dichotomies in the U.S. South often reflect, amplify and shape the political and economic tensions surrounding the politics of health in the U.S. writ large. These topics will be the focal point of he "Politics of Health in the U.S. South" series planned March 17 and 18 at Vanderbilt University.

'Why Sustainable Agriculture Matters' series to be presented Feb. 4

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Norman Wirzba, PhD, Professor of Theology, Ecology and Agrarian studies at Duke University in the Divinity School, the Nicholas School of the Environment and the Sanford School of Public Policy, will present a public lecture at 4 p.m. on Feb. 4 in Light Hall, Room 214 entitled “Why Sustainable Agriculture Matters.”

Mini Grants for Community Academic Research Partnerships

NASHVILLE, Tenn. An informational session about the Mini-Grants will be held on Friday, Jan. 8, from 8:30 - 10 a.m. at the Meharry Vanderbilt Alliance offices.

CERC Mini Grants for Community-Academic Partnerships due Feb. 22

NASHVILLE, Tenn. The Meharry-Vanderbilt Community Engaged Research Core is pleased to announce a new round of mini-grants for Spring 2016.   A letter-of-intent to apply is due Feb. 12, and the deadline for submissions will be Feb. 22.
 
 Two types of mini-grants are available:

MVA team volunteers at Nashville Rescue Mission

NASHVILLE, Tenn. The Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance team and community members joined volunteers at the Nashville Rescue Mission Monday, Dec. 14, to serve lunch for the city's homeless and low income residents. Additionally, the MVA collected and donated needed items -- including tissue paper, shampoo and other necessities -- to Crestview Health and Rehabilitation Center. The projects were part of an effort by the MVA to give back to the community during the holiday season.
