Meharry-Vanderbilt Community Engaged Research Core announces 2016-17 Community Scholars Program

NASHVILLE, Tenn. The Meharry-Vanderbilt Community Engaged Research Core (CERC) is pleased to announce the “Community Scholars Program” for 2016-17, a program that is cultivating a new generation of scholars who are committed to learning and implementing the principles of community engaged research.

Currently enrolled professional students who are pursing master’s level (M.A., M.P.H., M.S.) and medical degrees (M.D) are encouraged to apply for a one year program designed to further the professional development of community engaged research scholarship. Successful applicants will develop an understanding of community health determinants through participation in organized service to meet the needs of communities, apply the principles of community-engaged research through participation in collaborative research and demonstrate the methods or results of service learning through participation as a co-facilitator or co-preceptor of courses, field practica, or continuing education workshops, or presentation of research findings at local or national meetings.

The application deadline is March 2, 2016.  Scholars will begin June, 2016 and conclude May 30, 2017.
