Medical Grand Rounds continues at Meharry with 'Heart-Brain Cross Talk'

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Medical Grand Rounds will continue on Wednesday, March 9, when the Department of Internal Medicine presents "Heart-Brain Cross Talk: Perioperative Neurological Complications of Cardiovascular Disease and Vice Versa. An Intensivist’s Perspective.” Avinash Bhargava Kumar, MD, FCCP, FCCM is the featured speaker. The lecture will be held at the Kresge Learning Resource Center in Lecture Hall 1 from 12:15 - 1:15 p.m.

Kumar is Medical Director Neuroscience ICU and Associate Professor (Anesthesia and Critical Care) at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

 

Objectives

  1. Discuss the concept of Heart- Brain cross talk from an ICU perspective
  2. Discuss specific pathophysiological conditions that overlap care from the operating rooms, cardiovascular and Neuro ICU’s
  3. Discuss of the practicalities of management of cardiovascular compromise in the Neuro ICU
