NASHVILLE, Tenn. Nashville clergy and other religious leaders gathered at Meharry Medical College's Cal Turner Student Family Center for Student Education Thursday, April 14, at an Interfaith Prayer Breakfast to pray for Meharry's 12th President -- James E.K. Hildreth, PhD, MD -- the college and the surrounding community.

Hildreth, who spoke last, called Meharry a "beacon of hope" for students, patients and the community, offering opportunities for education, research and healthcare to individuals who might not otherwise receive it. He praised the compassion and commitment of Meharry's faculty and staff, and said he intended to continue the tradition of philanthropy and outreach during his tenure.
