NASHVILLE, Tenn. Last month, the Meharry-Vanderbilt Student Alliance volunteered with Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee and, with Vanderbilt VOISCE (Vanderbilt Organization for Interdisciplinary Student Community Engagement), hosted a Community Day at Divine Art Cafe & Toffee Art Cafe in East Nasvhille.

According to MVSA Co-President Terry Lyles, on Feb. 6 group members sorted more than 4,000 lbs. of food and water that will be provided to food shelters throughout Middle Tennessee. They also directly donated over 55 lbs. of canned goods.

The group was "well represented," Lyles said.

On the following day, Feb. 7, the MVSA and Vanderbilt VOISCE hosted a Community Day. Members from Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry, Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, Vanderbilt University School of Nursing and Vanderbilt University Law School donated time to the effort. They assisted with health screenings, oral health kits and community legal sources.
