Light Hall in Vanderbilt to host lecture "Nation Building: Health and Education"
H. Kenneth Walker, MD and Archil Undilashvili, MD will present a lecture titled "Nation Building: Health and Education" on Wednesday, April 29. Vanderbilt University will host the lecture at Light Hall, Room 202, from noon until 1 p.m.
Walker is Professor of Medicine and Neurology at Emory University School of Medicine and Executive Director with Partners for International Development.
Undilashvili is Adjunct Assistant Professor of Behavioral Sciences and Health Education at Emory University School of Medicine.

Community Research Partners to hold 'Insure Tennessee' presentation April 10
The Community Research Partners will host an "Insure Tennessee" presentation April 10 from 8:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. at United Way Metro, 250 Venture Circle, Nashville. The presentation will outline the key components of the Insure Tennessee proposal, analyze the circumstances that led to its defeat in the Special Legislative Session in February and describe the efforts of a broad coalition of advocates across the state to resurrect it before the end of the Regular Session.

U.S. Ambassador Deborah Birx, M.D. met with representatives of Meharry Medical College Thursday for a roundtable discussion concerning HIV and AIDS health disparities around the world.
Ambassador Birx is the Coordinator of the United States Government Activities to Combat HIV/AIDS and U.S. Special Representative for Global Health Diplomacy. Birx is a world-renowned medical expert and leader in the field of HIV/AIDS. Her three-decade-long career has focused on HIV/AIDS immunology, vaccine research and global health.
James Hildreth to to assume presidency of Meharry Medical College
James E.K. Hildreth, dean of the University of California, Davis College of Biological Sciences, has announced his resignation from the university effective June 30, leaving to become president of Meharry Medical College in Tennessee.
