Dr. Wilkins appears on NBC15 News to discuss Alzheimer's Disease among African-Americans

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance Executive Director Dr. Consuelo Wilkins, MD, MSCI recently appeared on NBC15 News in Madison, Wis., to promote community-based efforts to address Alzheimer's Disease in the African-American community. "African Americans are two to three times more likely than whites to have Alzheimer's Disease, and often they are diagnosed later," she said. The full interview is below:  

Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance, Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center to hold joint seminar

NASHVILLE, Tenn. The Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance and the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center will hold a joint seminar titled "Address Social Determinants of Cancer Health Disparities Using a Community-Based Participatory Approach" on Thursday, Feb. 25, at noon. Todd - Brown Heritage Lecture Medical Grand Rounds scheduled Feb. 17

NASHVILLE, Tenn. On Wednesday, Feb. 17, the Department of Internal Medicine and P. Renee Brown Obi, M.D.’84 will present the Todd - Brown Heritage Lecture Medical Grand Rounds at the Kresge Learning Resource Center from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. The lecture, titled “JNC-8 vs SPRINT: What Should Be the Blood Pressure Target in Black Hypertensive Patients?” will be held in Lecture Hall 1.

Landsittel discusses concepts of PCOR and CER

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Douglas Landsittel, PhD addressed researchers at the Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance on Wednesday, Jan. 27, and discussed "Patient-Centered Outcomes Research (PCOR) and Comparative Effectiveness Research (CER)." Dr. Landsittel, who traveled from the University of Pittsburgh, laid out the general concepts of PCOR and CER, the methods they use and educational efforts taking place on their behalf.
