Diabetes Group Sessions scheduled through Dec. 10

NASHVILLE, Tenn. The Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center has scheduled a series of free Diabetes Group Sessions beginning Aug. 27 and ending Dec. 10. Each session begins at 10 a.m. and last two hours. A complete schedule, including dates and locations, is below:    

Group Health Research Institute/Neely Williams Co-PI approved for $4.5 million for obesity study

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Neely Williams, Co-Principle Investigator (Co-PI) with Group Health Research Institute in partnership with the Mid-South CDRN, has been approved for a three-year $4.5 million funding award from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) to study obesity. The study aims to produce results faster and more efficiently by using PCORnet, the National Patient-Centered Clinical Research Network.

#WeBelieve Campaign & Rally scheduled Aug. 22

NASHVILLE, Tenn. On Aug. 22, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Meharry Amphitheater (21st Avenue between Albion and Meharry Boulevard), the Delta Chapter Omegas and the Meharry Chapter of the NAACP will present the #WeBelieve Campaign & Rally. Organizers are asking all Meharrians, Vanderbilt University Medical Center staff and students to participate in the effort to fight for African American achievement by starting in the minds of black youth.

Supporting Team Science at Vanderbilt scheduled Sept. 25

NASHVILLE, Tenn.  Vanderbilt is holding a one-day event called “Supporting Team Science at Vanderbilt” on Friday, Sept. 25. Its purpose is to bring together folks across the research enterprise to identify and address the ways that we can administratively promote and support interdisciplinary team science.

MVA intern's submission accepted for 2015 Health Literacy Research Conference

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance intern Ryan Berr's submission “Assessing the impact of Health Literacy, Numeracy and Race on Willingness to Participate in Biomedical Research” was recently accepted for an oral presentation at the 2015 Health Literacy Research Conference by the HARC abstract review committee.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. On Friday, July 31, the Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance presented the sixth and final in its series of educational sessions on the fundamentals of grantsmanship, scientific manuscript writing and research methodology.
